Caddis

Spent a little time last night behind the vice, a simple to tie caddis pattern was in order. The caddis actually work quite well, last week on the river was very productive for me with this caddis pattern. I looked up some information on the pattern and found lots of variations with different names relating to these fly, here I'll just call it a caddis pattern.

Caddis

There are a couple of different variations I tied up, very similar in tying other than the under-body on a few of them. The under-body on one has silver tinsel and other are just rapped with thread, one of the files has a small bit of dubbing, but I still need to work on the right amount to get a nice tapered look.

Olive Brown Glass Caddis

This one here is the one with some dubbing on the under-body. I used a light cahill color with small Body Glass in a light olive from Orvis. This ribbing is also known as D-rib or vinyl rib, easy to get at your local fly shop or online dealer.

Brown Vinyl Rib Caddis
The one right above is actually not tied correctly, if you look closely at the ribbing, it's actually backwards with the flat side is facing up, doh... I think it's time for a pair a glasses.

Olive Caddis

These here are very easy to tie with minimal materials used, thread, dubbing, D-rib, hook and a small bead, perhaps some tinsel if you'd like a bit of sparkle to the fly.

Cheers!
