CCG Smelt

Couldn't sleep this morning and decided I needed a smelt pattern for the saltwater. This is another Clear Cure Goo fly I tied up. It's pretty easy to tie up saltwater yak hair, flashabou and a bit of krystal flash, the eyes are 3D adhesive, covered up with CCG for durability. I tied this smelt pattern on a 2/0 Mustad hook (3407DT). It should work great for the big grumpy bass we find in the local bays or off the jetties. I'm also thinking a big ol halibut will find it quite appealing.

Have fun tying!

I tie a version of a Magic Minnow that looks alot like that. I just downsize it on a size 6 hook and throw in a little darker hair for contrast. It ticks the Bass off good during the spawn!

I'll definitely have to test the pattern out on the bass at the local lakes.

Benny, use the Clear Mono Thread on that pattern, it continues the Color scheme of the wing into the head and just looks great... 'Tis a Fine pattern there My Friend...

Thanks for the tip Dean, I'll try that on the next one I tie up.
