Early Morning Session...

out in the fog. From the current weather reports I definitely thought it would be clear and sunny, it was not to be though. turns out mother nature switched on the air conditioner for us this morning.

My buddy Mike arrived at my house at about 4:30am, I had already stacked the kayaks up on the rack so it was pretty much just load up a few more things of Mike's and it was off the beach.

This was the first time I have ever launched into the surf this early in the morning, the fog made things a little more interesting. The surf was pretty much nonexistent, flat to perhaps knee high surf. The launch was easy, still even with this small to nonexistent surf I did take a bit of water in the foot wells.

Immediately after setting up a short distance from the beach I get slammed on the swim bait but nothing stuck, good signs from things to come I guessed.

Here's a silhouette of my buddy Mike fishing in the low light and foggy conditions this morning.

Not sure how many fish we caught between the both of us but it was definitely an awesome morning on the water, with calico bass, rock fish and even some mini barracuda made a quick showing, lots of baitfish still around. I made a few macs and even caught a sardine on the sabiki, it was all for not, as none of the fish were interested in the live stuff and wanted either the fly or the swimbaits.

Lots of boaters out on the water this morning, be careful out there with the low visibility, some of the power boaters are still hauling ass even with all the fog. Speed and fog never go well together.

It was a nice morning on the water, the surf landing was even nicer than the launch, flat! Enjoy the rest of the three day weekend guys, have a safe 4Th of July.

Man that picture makes me wish I was down in Oceanside right now waiting for the sun and fish to rise. Great Photo. Congrats on the hook ups. Happy 4th and Tight Lines.

Happy 4th Trout Magee. I wish I was back out there right now, but with the 4th of July holiday, it's going to be a mad house out there.
